Okay, so I've been working out for about 5 months seriously now and pretty much bulking the whole time (i have a really fast metabolism). I started feeling tired and got some headaches about a 5-7 weeks ago and I felt like my workouts suffered. Took a few weeks off with no improvement. I saw a doctor and they did standard blood tests (Comp. Metabolic, Mononucleosis, and Lipid Panel just for kicks). Everything was fine (no mono) except that my liver enzymes (AST,ALT) were elevated like 4 to 5 times normal range. So then I got a Hepatitis screen and came back negative (AST,ALT still elevated). I got some more tests for liver like amylases, GGT, etc... but nothing out of ordinary. So the doctor has basically told me that he believes I have some kind of virus that I will eventually get over (he mentioned autoimmune disease, but I can't think about that). I am getting an ultrasound of my liver tomorrow to check it's condition and everything, but for now the plan is to just keep getting regular blood tests.
Has anyone ever heard of this or had this happen? Could it be something related to working out/ my bulking diet (high calories and high protein)? My doctor doesn't seem to think so. Also, I'm not on any drugs and I don't drink alcohol so it's not that.
Thanks for any feedback.
