I have been noticing some knee pain here lately. It is not really while I am working out, but more of a soreness, bruise type feeling after I work out. I didn't squat yesterday due to forgetting my jogging pants at home ( all I had was swimming trunk type shorts. Last time i squatted in shorts like that I split the backside on my 3rd rep ) so i decided to use the leg press. I did some warm up sets and then 3 sets at 500 lbs ( what a joke, I can only squat 350 right now ). When I did my first set of leg ext.'s my knees hurt so bad I had to stop.
My question is: Would it be safer and less harmful if I would wrap my knees?
I do not know much about the effect knee wrapping has, but I just wanted to make sure: are you warming up properly before the exercises AND stretching properly after the exercises? This can make a significant difference as well as help you recuperate better. If you are doing those things then narrow it down to nutrition, are you getting enough water during and after exercise? If so, you might want to consider supplementing with glucosamine as I know some on this site supplement with it because they feel pain in their joints or wish to prevent them.
Also, it is possible that you injured your knee too, but I do not know too much about injuries. If you do not get an answer here check out the injuries section in the blue tabs above...I mean...red tabs now. /forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I used to have knee pain after leg workouts, the doctor suggested I use knee wraps and it helped me alot, it also protects you from possible injuries. I use them all the time now and my knees are fine too (knocks on the wood)
