I was wondering if you guys knew anyhing about this condition.
Everytime after I run (which I started to do recently after my concussion) my shoulders and neck muscles get really stiff and I start to feel tired, nauseus and get a really bad headache. I was wondering if you guys have any opinions? Usually doctors just kind of shrug it off and don't take me seriously but I feel like crapy after I run usually. Should I see a neurologist or something?
Thanks?

Nah, do you take a multi?

When do you eat? What do you eat? what is your heart rate?

Give us the info bro..

I eat about 6 meals a day, I eat 1.5 hours before I workout. Not sure about my heart rate bud I don't think it is that. I am taking glutamine, a high quality multi and whey isolate. I take the whey in the morning and post workout. I would say my nutrition is good, about 2300cals a day, 30% carbs, 30% fats, 40% protein. I get my EFAs, I get my fiber so I don't think its nutrition. I get these symptons during low carb diets and high carb diets so its not that either. My neck and shoulders muscle really really tense up afterward and its a strange feeling headache with dizzyness and nausea, and I am starting to think it is from all those concussions in rugby.

It does sound to me that a visit to the neurologist may be reasonable, especially if you had a concussion, and you never had those problems before. I don't know how easy it is and how soon can you get an appointment with a neurologist in Canada. Can you go there on your own without the intervention of your primary physician?

Your diet sounds good so you are right, it does not sound like it is nutrition.

Have you tried to get a full body therapeutic massage and see if that does anything ?

try stretching before and after your cardio workout and maybe a neck and shoulder massage to work out that stiffmess. And make sure your hydrated.

I think it's one of two things. One, it's related to the concussion. How long since the latest concussion? Or two, your exercising at too high a heart rate.

I am excersizing at a very low heart rate right now, very light jogging and my last concussion was all the way in september so I should be fine by now...
*sigh*

That's it? No thermogenics or pro-hormones or anything else?

What is your heart rate while you are exercising?

Hey,
I'd definitely see a serious neurologist about that. It MAY be Post concussion syndrome, or at least something like that happened to me. I got a very severe concussion playing football last year...so I let it go for a a week or so, but when I started playing again, running, hitting, sometimes just sitting at home was giving me headaches and dizziness. It (should) eventually go away, but I would definitely see a neurologist...brains don't like bruises.

Hope it helped,
Reg

Hey man cool it, she's trying to help your well being...It sounds like you may have a zinc deficiency possibly....doubt it with the multi though....does this ONLY occur during cardio...if not see a physician immediately...and also how much is TONS of water...do you train and do cardio back to back? Maybe you need a few more carbs, it looks a little low to me could be a problem, maybe try 45/35 carb protein...might help....you are better gettin it checked...could be a VERY serious condition...

I didn't mean to offend you, wrinkles. I'm sorry if I did. I only asked again to be sure because there have been several occasions where someone doesn't list thermogenics and such at first.

I'm not meaning to second guess you, but I'm wondering if your heart rate was really 120. Did you measure it? It sounds like you're guessing at what it was.

I would definitely see a doctor. If your current doctor has just dismissed this problem, go to another one.

First off, sorry nozzle I know your trying to help, I am just really frustrated with this situation is all, didnt mean to come off as rude, abc is nothing but help to me.

Second off, I am not doing the cardio back to back, when I tried it I did the cardio at about 10pm, which is 9 hours after I trained that day.

By ton of water i am talking about a tall glass every 45mins or so and 1 litre after working out along with glutamine, vitamins, and whey.

Lastly, I don't think it is low carb or anything because I was on a bulk recently, got plenty of carbs and tried the cardio both on a bulk and on my cut right now so I am definetly seeing the doc again and insisting I get referred to a neurologist. Any opinions would be great again
Thanks abc

Oh one thing to add, I have been staying at a low weight with squats, 345 and lower because I feel my shoulders sorta tense up as well when I squat and I get a similar feeling of headaches afterwards...related?
