View Full Version : if i had to urinate on something..
i dont know whos quot eit is, but i saw it a while ago and thought who'd be dumb enough to do that.. but heres the quote
"if i had to urinate on somethign, itd be the guy in the squat rack doing bicep curls"
it appears people are that dumb because as i was waiting to get int here and do some squats, this guy stood there, curling the weight. i was so amazed by it, i didnt even say anything. then this other guy walks over to him ( i thoguht he was gonna be like 'go use to preacher curl') and this guy goes, do you need a spot? i was amazed, and now agree.
i would urinate on him as well!

I've done curls with the bar from the power rack...
...but 99% of the people in the gym don't know what a squat is. Dont' even get me started on the guy who does chest inside the power rack ... ON LEG DAY! /forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif

JP has that quote by a-folov in his sig.
My gym used to have signs up on the racks that said, "If you are using the squat racks to curl and someone is waiting to use them for squatting, move."
thatd be wicked - those signs, i wanna post them!!

My gym has 3 squat racks so it doesn't bother me as much. It's crowded at times but a lot of folks never work legs so there's always one open for the most part. There is a rack of fixed cambered bars and a rack of fixed straight bars that should be used for curls and I don't understand why people don't use them. There are a few people there who need more weight than what is available on the rack though.

My gym owner won't let me put up a "SQUAT OR DIE" poster in front of the rack /forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Here's the breakdown of our squat rack usage, roughly:
Squats & Squat variations: 0.01%
Shrugs: 48%
Curls: 49%
Upright Rows: 2%
Military Press/"rack" usage for SLDL, cleans, snatches: .99%
Squats are so low because no one but me and those I train use it for squatting. No one. Everyone uses the Smith Machine or leg press, and the "hardcore" use the plate-load Hack Squat Machine.
This one guy is in there 3-4x per week doing bar-weight Olympic lifts for a while, so he bumped "misc" usage to .99% along with the 3 guys that do military presses in there 2x per week.
The rest is self-explanitory.

My gym has 5 racks just for sqauts, then they have 2 other racks with the olypic bar for anything..sqauts, deds, SLDL, etc. Then they have another rack with a platform with an olympic sqaut bar that you can use for curls. Curls with a sqaut bar is actually a good exersice. I guess i can see how you would get pissed off if you only have 1 or 2 racks.

Speaking of squat racks...
...i have legs tonight and if the bench monkey is using it...I will hurt him. (note this guy puts 225 on there, screams and near drops the weight on his chest so it bounces back up.. so yeah, your typical bench monkey). =p

There is only one squat rack in my gym, and it's used primarily for squatting and deadlifting. I've also seen military presses and bicep curling, but very rarely.
What I hate about my gym is all this new HUGE equipment nobody knows how to use except the personal trainers, so nobody uses them, without having his personal trainer along.
Why on earth don't they put up more squat racks and/or benches for bench presses, and/or more free-weight dumbells and barbells!!!! You have put 20 equipment into a gym, or 1 bench and just a few plates, 2xdumbells and 1xbarbell and you'll be able to do ANY exercise those 20 equipments do.

Yeah, that was a-folov's quote. /forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Classic.
We have two racks and one cage. The other cage is still in pieces right now. I just use the cage and I let other people do whatever they want. As long as they are not in my cage, I don't care. it's stupid and annoying, though. If you're doing at least 95 lbs. in a squat rack, more power to ya. I prefer the o-bar to the smooth fixed barbells for exercises, but if you're curling 50 lbs, no need to waste a whole rack.
Hahaha, my gym has just done something unbelievable stupid. They put a punchbag IN THE FREEWEIGHT ROOM, so that if some moron kicks it or punches it (it's extremely light). It will just bounce around the entire FREEWEIGHT ROOM bashing all the people who are squatting, deadlifting, benching or whatever.
Someone PUT A LOT OF THOUGHTS INTO THIS IDEA!

i've also curled in a rack before, it was convieniet to use the rack while i was doing strip set curls, and no one wanted it for squatting, and i've used them for shrugs, but i'd move if someone wanted to use it for squatting

You know, I had a thought. If joe-blow gets mad at me for using the Rack to do a few sets of curs when he wants to do shrugs or shoulder presses I say... If you are gonna squat it's yours...but if you arn't, and I can curl more than you can squat (if you ever so desired to take your dress off) I get use of the rack.
People are generally afraid of freeweights.
Our fixed bars are KNURLED AS F---!!!! They chew the piss out of my hands every time I use them. I love it!
I had my protoge at the gym last night and there was this frat guy who was squatting with the worst form I've ever seen. His butt was coming straight down, knees WAY WAY in front of his toes, with 135lbs of course, sweating and panting profusely. I motioned to him and told my friend, "See that? That's how not to do squats." Some of the frat guys at our gym have the worst form, mostly just trying to impress people and heave giant amounts of weight. /forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif
my gym is small so i usually do curls/shrugs near the squat rack.
Theres only 2 flat bench, 1 decline, 1 incline bench in my gym. and a couple of adjustable benches.
And the only place you can do barbell curls is either in front of the incline bench, which is used most of the time, or on the flat bench/squat rack(which is empty most of the time).

I have actually gone up to people curling in the squat rack and told them to please leave so I can use the rack for it's intended purpose. Of course I would never do that to Mickey. He curls 185 for a set of 10..... he can use the rack for whatever he wants.

I have actually done this. It was a very satisfying experience. I would encourage you all to try it.
