Okay, this might be a bit difficult to explain but I'll do my best.

My system is fairly new, complete specs are as follows:

Processor: Athlon 64 3400+ w/ Clawhammer core
Memory: 2x 512 Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series DDR PC-3200
Motherboard: Asus K8V Deluxe
Video Card: eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Hard Drive(s): 2x Western Digital Raptor 74gb 10k SATA - RAID 0 array
Power Supply: Thermaltake Silent Purepower 480W

Okay, so here's my dilemma.

When scrolling down a web page (not always, but a lot of the time) the pictures lag. By lag i mean that if i'm scrolling down i will get 'stuck' over the pictures for usually around 1/2 a second. I wouldn't mind it all that much if i knew that it happened on other computers. That, however, isn't the case. My sister's computer runs at 900mhz with a 32mb video card and 256mb SDram. It has no problem scrolling down the same web page that I do. Annoying to say the least.

Awhile back, I upgraded my processor, ram, motherboard, and video card all in a matter of a week or so. I didn't notice this problem until after I put the video card, and it made sense to me that it was a video problem. I've spent lots of time updating drivers, tweaking clock speeds, bios, frames to render ahead, etc. Wasn't able to resolve the problem.

Last night, I finally decided to try my sister's video card in my computer. If it works fine in hers, it'll work fine in mine, right? Wrong. Same problem, but a lot worse.

So now I’ve concluded that it's most likely not my video card. Looking at mobo/proc/ram now. Well, that's not the easiest area to test things out. I've already swapped out memory, updated bios, got the latest drivers for my chipset...

I don't know what else to do, but I'd really like to get this fixed. I know it's rather trivial but when you spend so much money on something that doesn't even function as well as something 1/4th the price, it's a bit disturbing.

Ideas, anyone? I'm willing to try most anything (I'd maybe even consider use of a hammer...?)

Thanks for the replies.

I don't run any firewalls or anything like that

It does the same thing on both IE and firefox

i've formatted since and it hasn't changed a thing

*edit*

also, a friend said he thought it might be heat, but my video card is 42c, processor is 38c, motherboard is 30c, and ram is quite cool (dont have a temp but its definitely not too hot)

Eh, Firefox isn't completely safe. They are slowly finding more and more vulnerabilites. It is safter than IE though.

It doesn't sound like a browser issue though. I have a similar issue with a PC at work where it lags on pics (espeically Coz's animated gif) while scrolling. I know that's a video issue though. Does everything else (games, etc.) run smooth on it?

^ everything else seems to work fine. 3dmark 03 scores are just over 12000 and aquamark 3 scores are around 65000. This is the only thing i've really had problems with.

Ok, let me rephrase that original statement.

Given IE, Firefox = t3h win.
