I have yet to see any sort of chart as to gauge what my water in-take should be. I am 6'6" (not sure if height is a factor) and weight 256-262 depending on how the wind is blowing. I am trying to shoot for 128 floz but don't always get there.
Thanks for the help!

Take your bodyweight ( lbs ) x 0.66 and that's how much water you should be consuming a day ( ounces ) Remember, this does not include shakes.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't count shakes, juices, or any other drinks. We're talking about pure water.

You should drink at least that amount. Personally, I drink 8 to 10 L every day.

Oh, and it's been asked many times

Alright guys, dont get too excited. That eqaution is for the average person not for a bodybuilder/athlete.

Ohh ok then! ... so how do you determine how much you should (as a bodybuilder) be having?

sucramdw

It depends on the hardcoreness of the athlete....

A Hardcore bodybuilder should be having at least 1gallon during every workout. So thats about 4 liters right there.

For a bodybuilder I would think 6 liters a day should be the very minimum. I would say 8-12 Liters is optimal.

That equation is for athletes. For the average person, you have to multiply by .55

That being said, I suggest to take this amount as the minimal amount to drink daily.

wow and all this time I've been drinking nearly 3 gallons of water?

i follow if my urine is clear, I'm hydrated... any truth to this? Usually if my urine is yellow, I start drinking lots

I have read that it is true, and follow this principle myself.

I drink 3.5L or there abouts, and my urine is never clear. I always figured it was because of my multivitamin, its got real high levels like Vit C - 833% everything is at least 100% and higher ( some like 3000%), so I think my body will inevitably pass some of it. Considering that, should I increase my intake till my urine goes clear? do you think I am not getting enough water?

Your urine could be yellow for good reasons, such as b vitamin.

Make sure you balance your electolytes when drinking this much water. Drinking too much water during periods of exertion can flush your body of sodium and lead to hyponatremia, or "water intoxication" — a condition where the sodium-starved brain swells against the skull until nausea, weakness, seizures and in extreme cases coma and death ensue. And potassium deficiency (hypokalemia) is even worse. Be careful.

I usually have a fairly high intake of sodium and supplement potassium. Maybe that's why my urine is often yellow, B vitamins are taken in the morning

I drink 2 gallons a day no matter what. When I workout I'll drink even more.

Could be; Riboflavin would be the culprit.
