ok gonna have about 30mins in the morning to get my 10 sets of back work for my zane blitz tommorrow before i head to work. ( By the time i get home from work the gym is closed ) So my question is do i need a PWO for a workout as short as that? gonna feel like i am just getting warmed up with that few sets ...

gonna be hard to figure out how many carbs i would need for a workout as short as that...if i used lets say half of my normal PWO, if there are still to many carbs in it than needed will they most likely be stored as fat or do i not have to worry about that?

how many carbs are we talkin? If you use whey, water, and pb, that's like 10 carbs or something like that.

peanut butter

The question mark is for the fact that peanut butter is awful after a workout due to its high fat content. I think id cut in half the amount of carbs if it is half or less than half the volume.

Yea, take half your shake. But still the same amount of proteins. Just a suggestion.

tom10, I hope you were not serious about peanut butter..

It also depends on the intensity of those 10 sets... For all we know you could be doing 10 sets of hardcore deadlifts back to back /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Exactly. If I were doing 10 ballsout sets (Like You Should Be) then I would be wanting to consume my entire PWO shake. I actually have been doing some workouts with only ten sets and no supersetting or other shocks and consume my normal PWO shake.

peanut butter

Why pb?

It is not part of protocol! Remember that the contents of the PWO are such so that the body can absorb them quickly and efficiently to deliver to the muscular system through the blood stream. In my opinion pb would delay such delivery plus, again, it is not protocol since it doesnt respond to the nutritional needs post workout.

Well look at it like this, he was talking about too many carbs and without the peanut butter theres like 1 or 2 carbs. He's got to be putting something else in there, I'm just guessing it's peanut butter because a lot of people use it in their shakes (hopefully not PWO).

PS. Sorry Joe for putting it in the wrong forum, was too busy reading posts that i forgot what forum i was in.

"Regardless, I agree with the "half" protocol described above."

Right on brother! I also advocate this protocol, as does Oldschool.

I also recommend cutting the carbs down for a less intense session, or for training a smaller muscle group. It would make sense that the more intense you are the greater the demand your body would place on post-workout nutrition and your post-workout shake should reflect that.

If you're blitzing and going hardcore... take the full shake

Go hard or go home /forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
