View Full Version : Ever thought about worms?

Just wondering...

Kids are usually monitored for tape worm and other parasite growth in their stomach/intestines since it hampers their growth.

There haven't been much discussion about adult's condition with parasites.

I just thought of this since my baby's pedia visit is coming up this weekend and I was reading some childcare books.

Shouldn't we, bodybuilders, be concerned with this as well since parasites can rapidly prevent us from absorbing valuable nutrients, enzymes and whatever we're eating/supplementing to help us get bigger?

I mean, kids aren't the only ones putting dirty things into their mouth all the time. In my case, I always seem to bite my nails and bite on a pen tip at work...

Any thoughts?

I've always wondered this, because I have to consume insanely high amounts of calories to grow

You can always have your blood analyzed for parasites. They were doing this last week at my health food store. An outside company was sponsoring it.

blood? really? I thought the SOP is stool sample only? How can you trace parasites from blood?

Are there parasite killers for adults? There are tons for kids

yeah it sounds pretty lame, but I've seen some pro body builder diets and they consist of no more than 5000 calories. You're telling me someone that only weighs 225 (on a good day) needs to consume almost 2000 more?

I will have to get back with you on this one. My health food store was doing it(had some company come in that did this)she was just sponsoring it, and because I am very good friends with the owner, she was going to let me in ahead of others, but I did not have the time.

There is some literature she had on it, I just glanced at it as I was in a hurry. I will have to pick it up and look at it to give more info.

Hey fella, maybe you should go for a parasite analysis, just in case, as I believe that 7000 calories daily for someone of your weight an age is a way BIG intake in order to grow, even if you do a high amounts of physical activities.

There is a certain white blood cell that is present in higher levels in the blood when someone is infected by a parasite but this is not a very reliable test since other conditions can cause the same symptom. Stool sample is still the best testing method.

Another obvious sign that you have a worm infestation is if you find one in the toilet as I have heard that happen before. /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
