The only red meat i eat is 7% ground beef that i grill in my 'Foreman grill. I just don't like it all that much. Do you guys eat much red meat, or are you guys all chicken-heads?*

*No, I don't mean that in the slang usage /forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think I remember reading in one of the articles on this site that ground beef is not a good red meat choice.

And to answer your question - yes I eat red meat.

Steak is without a doubt one of my favorite sources of protein. Its rich in Zinc and many other vital nutrients needed for muscle growth! I highly recommend you incorporate this meat into your bulking regimen. It is a powerhouse in the department of building muscle! Make sure that you choose a lean cut of steak. Don't chow down on prime rib. It should be extremely lean! And no ground beef. Its way too high in fat and cholesterol! Just lean choice steak.

I'm not against it, but I find throwing a chicken breast on the grill or opening a can of tuna easier and cheaper than most red meat options...

Super diet lean ground beef like 5% doesn't have too much fat. If I'm gonna have red meat, though, I want steak!

Who said that? That is not true at all.

4 oz serving of 97% extra lean ground beef has 24g of protein and only 4g of fat. Also, dietary intake of cholesterol as it has been mentioned before does not increase LDL levels or lower HDL.

Is this a trick question? Steak (NY Strip, Tenderloin, T-Bone (Porterhouse) or anything with the word Round or Sirloin in it.... Oh and ground beef is fine 97% fat free is best. Go with the lean cuts whenever possible....

I picked up a good tip from another site:

Soak your steak in wine(red) overnight and then drain the wine thuroughly the next day. The wine acts a solvent and dissolves a good chunk of the sat fat. This means when you drain the wine you are also draining off some of the sat. fat content.

Does the alcohol stay in the steak?

But doesn't that mean that there is alkohol in your steak now?

Hey, it's all good. To each his/her own. When I was younger, my mom used to cook the stuff till it tasted like a leather belt. Then one day, I went to a steakhouse with some friends, and ordered mine cooked 'medium', not knowing what else to say. It was like nothing I'd ever had before, pink on the inside, a little charred on the outside, the juice oozing out...mmmmm. I never looked back. Now, if I go too long without it, I actually start craving the stuff. What can I say?

About the alcohol in the steak i think that it would evaporate when you cook it. I eat lean red meat all the time, i eat 95/5 ground beef and whole wheat buns when i am in the mood for a burger. also add some lowfat cheese and veggies and yum:)
Also steak and veggies with brown rice is my lunch

I eat lean red meat on a daily basis. I like to go to butcher's in town and see what they have going on in their bargain bins. Nothing beats choice veal for $6-8/kg.

i have trouble eating veal because i know how they make veal and how cruel it is to the animal throughout their entire lives so i eat vension most of the time.

LOL...Pepperoni and all other sausages are miscellaneous left over meat parts or "mystery meat" and other additives. If you make home-made pepperoni it usually consists of beef, pork and deer but who knows what is in it when you buy it at the butcher shop.

Don't make it a regular part of your diet but who can resist it on a Pizza...drool. /forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
