Well my back is kinda hurting me for some unkown reasons and i cant afford to see a doctor about it either. Its basically in line with the bottom of my shoulder blade but its around the spine (on the same level as my left shoulder blade but right bside the spine). what muscle group is this? and what exercises can i do to toughen it up?

sounds like your traps, give it time to recover you don't want to work it out when it's injured. When it does recover, start doing shrugs and upright rows

I think I may have had a smililar problem a couple years ago. I got a pain from shoulder pressing. I changed up my routine and it stopped bothering me. a few months afterwards I was able to shoulder press again. So if you have any idea what exercise causes this problem, try something to replace it, thats what worked for me.

upright rows, which were mentioned sounds pretty good. also try hitting barbell shrugs with a reverse position (holding the barbell behind your body)...i feel those target the area that was described.
