View Full Version : Dextrose during workout?
I think I read a thread somewhere here before about it but I can't find it.
Would it be benificial to take a sip of dextrose in water for energy during workout. Wouldnt it help keep the ATP stores full?
Thanks.

Nope not at all. Drink straight water before and during the work out whether it is cardio or weight training. Post work out nutrition should include water/whey protein/dextrose/maltodextrin/sodium but you probably have already read the window article....

^^^ because it raises your insulin level which makes you less susceptible to the benefits of your PWO shake

the vast majority of the muscle fibers BBers are working are fast twitch meaning the rely on anearobic energy systems, and dont have the mitochondrial content to EVER benefit from insulin spikes during a workout. meaning, they use creatine phosphate, and stored glycogen rather than blood sugar for energy. meaning, providing your muscles with a source of energy (dextrose) they wont even use is a total waste. and will busy the body with insulin, rather than letting it concentrate on whats important while lifting. shipping lactic acid to your liver so you can continue your workout.
energy for workouts comes from eating complex carbs about an hour b4 lifting, not insulin spikes during
