I went to Vitamin World and there ZMA was $36 and it would last 60 days. I then looked at zinc tablets and then magnesium tablets; they were both a little under $10 each but would last more than twice as long as the ZMA. What’s wrong with just getting Zinc tablets and magnesium tablets as long as the magnesium is from aspartate. (What is aspartate anyways???)

I just read this article last week, and I remember it saying, "the easiest way to do it is to supplement with these two nutrients". I don't recall the article recommending a B6 supplement though. Can you elaborate on B6?

That is such a relief because I can’t afford another to spend another $40 every 2 months. Do I need to find magnesium from aspartate or will regular magnesium do fine?

You do not need magnesium aspartate; any form will do, but if you have a choice, search around the web to see which one is more bio-available.
The B6 is far from necessary; it's main function in the ZMA stack is to provide a slight mood-mellowing, which it does a poor job of unless you are defficient in B6 in the first place (which is doubtful, but far from possible). It will not hurt ot have it in there, but it won't be uneffective if you leave it out.

Great thread... I was wondering about that as well as separate Zing/magnesium tablets cost less than "packaged" zma
