Since my college gym was closed over the break, I got a guest pass at this really rich gym (think global gym on dodgeball, but this is more luxurious). It was too fancy for my tastes, but I had to spoil myself in it. They even have LCD tv's on every bike/treadmill! So on my last day there, I was set to do a hardcore back workout. Coincidentally, it seemed like everyone there was doing a back workout that day. No one was in any other corner of the gym, but the back area. Even this old man took over our assisted pullup machine, took his time, and did, I swear, about 100 reps.

Anyways, after 1.5hrs of some intense back workout, I had to try their boxing area. They had this large tear-drop boxing bag, really tough and heavy, that I practiced some combos on. I boxed til I tore chunks of skin off my knuckles, rendering them bloody! I didn't even feel it, so I took advantage of my numbness at the time and just ripped the dead flesh off, leaving them unable to drain in the sink. Now that was hardcore!

It looked worse before I cleaned it up with the skin roughed up on them.

I like the Globo Gym imagery

Now that's what I call hardcore! /forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Behold, the importance of hand wraps and gloves. I have scars on my hands from bareknuckling a bag. Wrap something around them next time, those knuckles are going to keep you from hitting the bag for a while. if you don't have hand wraps, use an old rag. guaze works as well. My gloves have holes in them from hitting the bag, and the alot of the padding is gone. If you were hitting a speed bag, which is what it sounds like and what your hands look like you hit, just use the wraps, no gloves.

and where was your PWO shake during all this??? did you get it before you hit the bag??

Yea, that'll be the end of boxing for a while, since I don't have access to any punching bags at my college gym. I didn't think my workout gloves would slide around much, since they're pretty tight. I'll keep the wraps in mind next time I go at it. Oh...pwo was right after boxing. I normally don't wait that long to drink it down, but today was a different occasion.

oh you had workout gloves on. the thing is, i bet they did help. just not enough to keep you from breaking the skin. Imagine what they would look like if you hadn't had them on!!
