I was talking to my brother in law about weak point training, and i noticed his delts were really lacking, especially front and side delts. Well, i tried thinking of frontal deltoid exercises and all i could really think of were front raises (db and bb) and something just like front raises with cables. What are some other exercises that isolate the front delt area really well?
Popular or unpopular, as long as it works, i dont care /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif Side delts are not as bad, though. Thanks guys!

military press, either dumbell or bar. rocky press. upright rows.

I said that as well, but i was talking totally isolated front delt things, not compound. or at least mostly front delt.

Heavy military presses, heavy push-presses, and heavy incline bench press will all recruit the front delts nicely.
For side delts, my favorite is wide-grip upright rows supersetted with lateral raises.

I'll second military press. Wide grip bench and incline bench are also nice, compound movements that'll wear out your delts and make front raises or smaller exercises that much more effective.

yeah theres a lot of different exercises that can work your front delts. Seated shoulder press is a great way to mass up. You can also do it with a dumbells or barbell (on the smith machine or without assistance..its always good to switch it up though) Presses are always good for front delts but you can also bring out your fronts with front raises with a barbell or even with the rope extension. Attach the rope to the bottom of the cable column and put it between your legs. Grab the rope on each side and lift up keeping your elbows a bit locked. These feel weird at first, but the next day you will be sore as hell. For side delts I like to do side raises with my elbows bent. Those give some serious pumps if you do them right. Dont go to heavy on these, just make sure you can feel it in your side delts. Its not always about how heavy you are going, its about quality.

ohh i totally forgot, you can do upright rows to bring out overall shoulder mass too. these are probably one of the best ways to widen yourself up. Just remember to control the weight on the way up. Don't throw the weight up with your back. You can cheat a bit but don't get too crazy otherwise you'll get hurt.

Try:
5 dropsets of Mil Press,
4 sets L-Raises with Dumbells (or Cable L-Raise 21s)
...they realluy kill the detls for me

Or try a pre-fatigue shocking method...
Superset side lateral raises (first) with front raises last. The side raises will fatigue your medial head first, and the front head will have to work extra hard to do the front raises. /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

feels like every exercise hits my front delts enough. benchpress, military press, incline etc all do a great job for front delts

Frontal Delts: Seated DB Forward (Front) Raises with a Neutral or Supinated Grip
Side Delts: Seated DB Side Lateral Raises done as drop sets (using three to five drops).

Yep, that is one of my favorite exercises but i have found out that it is not only the exercises you do but the sequence in which you perform them...so I do supersets here.
Maybe he will benefit from a combination of the exercises here listed on a superset.
Like:
upright rows
front shoulder raises
side shoulder raises
rear shoulder raises
