View Full Version : Who can do this?
Kareem

Sit with legs in front of you, feet up against a wall. While keeping your legs straight, try to touch the wall with your palms. I did this flexibility test and to be honest, I had a hard time getting my finger tips to the wall. Hold for 2-3 seconds and try it a couple of times. I couldn't believe how tight my lower back and hamstrings are...I'm starting a stretching routine tonight!!! By the way, the chart indicated normal flexibility to be your fingertips touching the wall. How did you do?

ya im not a flexible person i need to work on that...
I am able to do it with my fingertips but not my palms.
3-4 years ago I could do it. Since then I stopped practicing martial arts and stretching as much as I used to.

I think that if I kind of threw myself at the wall, I could touch it... lol. I'm no where near as flexible as I need to be.

That's pretty good...I couldn't do it....I need to make this a challenge! Give me a few weeks....

Did you warm up first? I am very tight, but once I warm up and strectch I'm pretty flexible.
Kareem

i did a brief warmup...nothing spectacular...i'm tight as well.

I could do that back in high school/elementary school. I'm sure I could now, too.
Like Coz, I did it with my fingertips as that was the requirement. Not like I could've otherwise done it with my palms, though /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I'll leave that to the long-limbed fellers in the 6-foot-plus club!
/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I can touch my palms lol money arms

Kareem, can you please post your flexibility program? I need to start one too, but have no idea wher to start!!!!
I can bearly get my fingertips to my toes, when me feet are not against the wall.
Cheers

T-Gunner, I will post once I get it together. It will focus more on the hamstrings/lower back than anything else. Those areas sometimes can get very tight.

No problem! I used to stretch alot for sports in HS and have continued the same motions stretching a bodypart after each workout i do.. after legs though (today) i am a little stiffer, though!

Couldn't get my palms, just my fists against the wall. I've gotten a little less flexible since football ended. I should probably start working on it a little bit more again.

About 4 inches away from touching my toes at all. I've NEVER been flexible. However I have really short arms, so I'm assuming that does'nt help, but it feels like my hamstrings are gonna tear when I do that...oww....I gotta start strecthing again.

you know it realy should not 'hurt' that means you going to far to fast and you are just going to screw yourself
done diddy. and it has been a late night as well . is that plus or negative? does it matter?

I don't know if it's a plus or negative, but my lower back and hamstrings have benefited from doing this every day. I'm geting much better reaching farther each time.

holy crap, it feels like the back of my knee is gonna explode, I gotta start doing this, I am definately not as flexible as I outta be
also, what is DOMS an acronym for? I am guessing its for a type of exercise like SLDL. I have heard it used a few times and am not familier with it.

in order to get a boost... see if you can attatch a rope of some kind... sit in that possition.. and pull yourself towards the wall.... don't pull to hard... it can cause tears... just yank towards it.... hold it for longer.... 5-10 each time... and you'll be there in NO time

I got pretty good flexibility. I definately agree with the martial arts aspect. I did Kung Fu as a kid for a few years and that made a major difference. In gym class I used that box you sit against and reach across last year and did 15 1/2 inches whatever that translates into. I highly recommend martial arts for flexibility but I have no clue about this pilates fad stuff.
