I’ve recently started riding my bike to and from the gym. I keep it pretty low-intensity, and it only takes about 15 minutes. I was wondering when I should take my PWO shake. Here are my options:
1) Chug immediately after my workout and before biking home
2) Sip the shake during my bike ride home
3) Start sipping the shake after my bike ride, once I get home
4) Stop riding my bike (my least favorite option)
Any advice?

I would
drink half the shake immediatley after the workout
then ride the bike home
then finish the rest of the shake at home

i used to walk to and from the gym and i would drink half the shake and then sip on the rest on my stroll home! if your bike ride is really mellow, like strolling, i would suggest what i did.

For 15 minutes of low intensity cardio, I don't think I would have a shake at all. I would just eat regular meals around you workout.

I think you misunderstood... I believe he rides his bike to the gym, does his normal workout, then rides the bike home.
I would suggest drinking half of the shake immediately and sip on the remaining half over the next 45 minutes to an hour. If this requires you to sip on it while riding home, do it.

Oh. I got it now, I would agree with what other people have said then.

Thanks for the advice -- will do! Do you guys think that this low-intensity post-workout cardio will cause any significant negative effects?

doubt it. just make sure to get some of you PWO shake in your system right away. then take it easy on your ride home while sipping on your shake. you should be fine.

Just make sure you avoid having to ride your bike home after leg day /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The important thing on your bike ride is to not getting your heart beat goin to high. You dont want to use any glycogen, and get your cortisol going back up, especially now that your trying to get it back down. Just listen to your body, and hear what it says.
