Depends on your diet. Are you getting enough protien already?

The post workout shake(whey, dextrose, maltodextrin combination) is only taken...post workout.
A protein shake (whey, casein or whatever) is taken to fit into your caloric requirements more out of convenience than anything else. You don't need it if you are eating enough food. Whey is an excellent source of protein and it is cheap and convenient, nothing else.
Find out how many calories you need whether you are bulking or cutting and you have to see if you are meeting your requirements.

A good way to use a protein shake aside from mornings and PWO is to have a small one which each meal so you have a fast and slow source of protein entering your system.

I go for a 30g(1 scoop) shake which consists of 25g of protein.
