My mother said that while trying to learn more about creatine before letting me use it (she's paranoid about what I take) she came across some things saying that creatine is bad for people with kidney problems. I was wondering if this was true because I have kidney problems. Also, if it IS bad for people like me and I can't take it, is that going to hurt me when it comes to bulking? Thank you!

I'm not sure if it's bad for your kidney, but I know many, many people who don't use it and still make great gains.
what would be the science behind that?? im not trying to be on the offense here, im just wondering too!

I didn't read it myself so I'm not sure. And I'm not too spiffy with my anatomy but arent the kidneys filters sorta? Maybe the creatine puts stress on them.

im not sure about the kidney part, but as to your last question " is that going to hurt me when it comes to bulking", most certainly not. while i do take creatine now and my workouts are much better, for the last 6 months i have not taken creatine supplements and have gotten bigger and stronger. creatine would have helped but it is not mandatory.

It's been proven through tonnes of studies and quite widely known around here that creatine does not CAUSE kidney problems, but I'm not sure about it's effect on people with existing problems. What problem do you have?
Hopefully one of the more well-read mods can give you a better answer!

I get kidney stones and have "unknown" problems that cause them to just hurt constantly (kind of feels like a daily kidney stone). Alrighty, thanks CrazyT and Joe King.

Read my creatine article (that is to be published shortly). Creatine does not cause kidney damage, nor does it worsen existing conditions. I discuss this in my article.

What publication is it going to be published in? I'd be interested in looking it up, checking it out, and reading it.
Thanks in advance

It's in the Journal of Hyperplasia Research. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh, I was thinking it was going to be in a published scientific journal. One that is reviewed by professionals in the field and either rejected or accepted. Why not submit the hyperplasia articles for actual publishing??

JHR is a scientific journal, and it is reviewed by professionals.

Yes, it is a scientific journal. I have never seen it in a paper form, or anywhere else but this site though. Are the professionals you speak of the mods of this site??
