When I do my workouts I usally get some wicked DOMS. It takes about 3 or 4 days before I feel fully recovered. Lets say I did tri's on monday then legs on tuesday and I was planing on doing chest on wensday. Now if my tri's are still sore on wensday should I go ahead and do my chest? Even though chest works the tri's a little is it still alright to do it even though your tri's are still sore, maybe it would act as an Active Recovery kind of???

Yeah I would say it is fine to do that, you're not directly hitting your triceps, and you'll get a bit of active recover in there as well.

So are you still building muscle after 48 hours if you are still sore, or is it just there is still latic acid?

Odds are your muscles are still repairing themselves. I know for myself.....once I really got serious with nutrition, recovery supplements, and taking proper post exercise stretches, and active recovery techniques, my DOMS goes away very quickly.
Everyones different, it could be just that your workouts are that hardcore, or it could be your recovery is inadequate. So long as your still seeing gains, I wouldn't worry about it.

Byron, what did you do to improve your recovery time, because I need mine to get better. My legs particularly, my DOMS hang around for like 4 days sometimes. Any advice would be great.

Intense stretching, both before, during, and after exercise helped me tremendously with recovery. Also, if you haven't already, start supplementing with Glutamine. It helps recovery a great deal.
Also, make sure your taking in enough water both before, during, and AFTER your workouts.
Finally, follow PROPER post workout nutrition!
After I incorporated all of these into my routine, I noticed my recovery time, and ability improved TREMENDOUSLY.

well its hard to say .... I keep hearin anymore that soreness is not a good indicator of muscle growth or a good workout... I changed my workout to hitting muscle groups more often a week and when I was slightly sore I`d still work the muscle.. eventually I got to the point where I wasnt sore and this is when I made the BEST gians that I have ever gotten.

I am going to watch this thread as well. I just posted one on my first "intense" workout. I am still jacked up 6 days later!!!!
Ive been eating great but havent tried glutamine, a product this site recommends. That may be worth it.

Gluatmine worked great for me too. Also, make sure you are getting plenty of rest.
You don't build the muscle in the gym, you break it down. It's what you do outside of the gym that determines how it will recover and build.

Thanks for bringing this up! It totally slipped my mind. As my professors say "Muscles are made in bed, and in the kitchen...NOT in the gym". This holds very true. You need to be getting PLENTY of sleep every night. 6-8hrs minimum, and even more if your training very intensely.
