when i do regular sqauts my groin or rather upper inner thigh on my left leg starts to hurt. It feels like a tendon or vein is about to pop. It really sucks because it keeps me from doing more reps or a higher weight. Anyone know what my problem is?

It can be anything bro, from bad form to bad flexibility.

The pain was very bad today...what does a hernia feel like?

An inguinal hernia would be on the lowest part of your stomach on one side or the other. If it's something down in your leg, it's not a hernia. Don't forget, squatting places a tremendous load on your adductors, or the "groin" muscles. See if you can get it warm with some kind of high rep movement, then try to stretch it out. You may need to give it a week off and come back to squatting.

Ya so I guess its not a hernia. I would say its lower groin area on the left side. I usually just start off with a weight that I can do around 14reps with. So I should start with a lighter weight, or take a break from squats right?

I went to play frisby the other yesterday with my roomate, and after 15 minutes I could barely walk. Do you guys think i probably pulled my groin, and if so how long does this usually take to heal if i dont do squats for awhile?

I have the exact same problem. You have to reeeeeeeeeally stretch it. Sometimes it works and then sometimes you'll still get the pain. I think its more of a flexibility problem.

Had that problem as well when I first started doing squats. I laid off squats for a week, just let myself heal up, and then warmed up and stretched really well before starting with a set of light squats to start and then digging in. But the main thing is to warm up. Good luck.

Thanks guys, i will definitely start warming up better, and doing groin stretches. But until then im going to lay of squats for 1-2 weeks, because now its both legs of the groin not just the left. Its really bad, like just throughout the day when walking.

If it hurts really bad, have it checked out!, my knees are bad, i try to loosen them in every possible way by stretching every way and holding for the longest time. it feels so good when im done

i think sta63 mention abductors(sp?)..which are good for that area...as well as hip adductors (man i get the two mixed up and the spelling freaked up too)...
anyways...working them out should stabilize the area for future squatting,
