I've been doing abs one day a week. (treating them like any other muscle) But I've heard both sides of the arguement with little conclusion.

Thats how I am too, I did abs for 4 months straight everyday achieved my 6 pak with a very strict diet, but I hardly ever do them anymore. I told myself I need to do them atleast once a week.

I just got back in the gym in Jan. after a 5 yr. rest. (I got lazy and it is a hard habit to break!.!.!.!) But I hit my abs in cycles...
2 wks. everyday weighted
2 wks. 3x wk. weighted
1 wk none then start over...

Thats just how I work them.. no particular reason why

I use to have my rocking six-packs while I was in Kung-Fu from the age of 14-15. We would do those exercises everyday. 100-200 ab exercises (different kinds). So i would say if you work out 3xx a week , then do it 3x, if you work out 5x then 5x a week like 20reps or 30.

I'm very slim as you can see below, so I got my results fast I don't do situps and my abs are still there just not showing since I'm getting a lil mass on the stomach and stuff bulking up & i havent done abs for a few weeks
i can never do nothing for a whole week striaght

every other day would be optimal. Weighted and un weighted have differn't purposes. If your going for defenition high rep crunches and such with no weight is good. If you need mass weighted with low rep best way to go.

Where's the never?!

I never worked the abs for a solid 2-3 months. My bodyfat was low enough that I was always getting attention for my "eight pack." Those people...

I'm starting to hit them as I don't want to develop a muscle imbalance between my back and abs. I follow Venom's workout for abs when I do hit them. Intense workout. /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i hardly ever train them as well, my BF is low enough, to see'em regardless of me training them or not

I prefer to train my abs 2-3 times a week hitting every angle each time I target them. I also add weights into my routine to help tear things up down there.

3 times a week, upper and lower - unweighted.

Uhh, technically 2 times a week in my current split, not including any classes I might have. Weighted or unweighted depends on what I have available and how busy my work is.

I do abs 2x a week.. I change the split every 2 weeks or so. I don't do abs for the 6-pack, I do them for the strenth. Need them abs on squat /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

For those of who don't work your abs do you have oblique muslces and sides muscles besides.....just front abs?

I was doing them once a week through the winter, but have increased it to twice a week now. I typically use a higher rep, unweighted exercise ( such as simple crunches) for a warmup and then move into the weighted exercises. Then to close it off I will occasionally do unweighted exercises to close out my workout to make sure all the muscle fibers get worked..

I like to do them three times a week. I use different ways to work my abs... swiss ball, weights, machines, pilates, videos.

3 times a week now, after I discovered I need to strenghten them quite a bit /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

3-4 times per week. Doing all parts of the abdomen. Some exercises weighted, some not weighted. Currently bulking. I put on b.f. easily when bulking no matter how clean my diet so i have to still do abs to keep them somewhat decent.

Currently 3 times a week doing the 8 Weeks abs program (which is geared towards building mass - weighted, low rep exercises).

i do them when ever my girlfriend moans that its getting worse.

but i feel that i only have to really work the lowers, the uppers stay all the time.

and i do a mixture of weighted and unweighted.

i think that once you have got good abs, you keep them by just keeping active, tensing them when doing squats and shoulder presses.
