I've decided I'm going to do this right this time. Last time I took no pictures, but now, since I'm going to work extra hard this summer, I thought taking progress pictures would help me out along the way.

I realize I probably look like I haven't been lifting for a while because my BF% is up right now and I haven't been making it to the gym to lift for a week now, and since the beginning of this month I haven't had any set program. I've just been trying out the exercises in the 13-week.

If anyone could please critique my pictures (sorry about the horrible quality & lighting, my camera sucks), please do so. I know I'm missing leg shots, but I couldn't get my camera to take decent ones.

Also, could anyone take an educated guess on what you think my bf% is? I'm thinking 18% or something, which I hope is right. I would hate for it to be at 20% now...

I'm trying to decide if I should cut first for the summer, and then stop being scared and bulk up for a few months once school starts back up in August, or try and bulk now, even though I would prefer a cut because it is summer and I would like to be able to wear my bikini (especially since it's the first one I've ever owned because this is the first time I've ever felt comfortable in one)

Okay, sorry for the longness of this post.

I'm no expert, but i think you look great right now. You could cut if you reallly wanted, but i personally see a need. I couldn't guess on a specific BF%, but you seem pretty low to me, and i can definately see some definition. All i can say is keep up the good work.

You look fine /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif. back looks great.

What are your goals? That's what shoud determine whether bulk or cut.'

You're another example of someone who's too hard on herself. /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This is what I think you should do, cause you're already thin (and there's nothing wrong with the way you look):

A clean diet at maintenance calories with plenty of heavy (to failure) weight training, each body part worked once per week. You're really not much different than when I first started lifting and I actually was still eating like a pig for the whole first year I started lifting (lots of carbs, bad carbs even). So I really think that for you, your KEY is gonna be the weight training. I don't think you have to worry as much as you think about your diet, altho I'm not saying you shouldn't try to eat clean but I don't think it's CRITICAL for you at this point to measure every little thing you put in your mouth. In other words I think that you can get some really great results just by heavy weight training and not eating junk food and too many carbs late at night. I really don't think you will have to be super strict diet wise.

So if you haven't already, you'll need to find your TRUE maintenance calories. Have you, or are you now, on CUT calories? If so, we need to increase those for you so you can build some muscle. You'll be able to build muscle and lose fat at your maintenance calories, or at least you should especially being that you're still new at this. I did it, and I'm betting it will work for you too.

Other than that, speaking from a bodybuilding standpoint (cause you already look just fine), as with any female beginner bodybuilder, you'll need to work on getting some lat width. Also work on bringing up the traps, they basically just need some more mass. Your arms and shoulders look pretty good, just keep working on them. As your muscles develop more, we will be able to better see if any are lagging or not, it's really too early to tell. http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/happy/wink.gif

Does that help?

I'm with the guys above.

You look great.

Eat clean and get a good workout programme together (which you stick to) and you'll be even more superb.

Hmmm... you definitely need more back width IMO, and more detail the the whole upper back. Perhaps a bit more biceps also. Great shoulders and legs!!! /forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Your arms and shoulders look great. Once you get on a set routine and stick to it you should make great gains. Good luck and keep us posted.

I would follow Kyrpto's advice. I think you need to work on you back a little more and shoulders. What happen to the legs?

My room is a very dark place and is where my computer is located, and my camera is a piece of crap, therefore I wasn't able to get the camera at an angle that would picture my legs.

It's alright though, my legs aren't all that great. They definitely need some major work.

Anyways, thanks for all of the responses, especially to Krypto for the great advice! It definitely helped me out.

Now I'm just impaitently waiting for finals to be over Wednesday so I can get back to lifting (I'm taking off from lifting until school is out).

Lifting is like a drug.

I think you're fine cause I don't see anything wrong. Just keep doing what you're doing right now and you're on your way to a great physique. I'm guessing that you're still young and have a lot of great potential ahead of you.
BTW, you have a cute face too! /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You are too hard on yourself! But I am guilty of the same crime...just keep working hard and eating clean!

I agree with Krypto about adding some mass to the traps & back...biceps too (but I am a bicep freak /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif )!

Bottom line...you already look great. Set those goals and smash through them!

I'm sure you don't need another compliment, what with all those above chiming in. But here goes...

You definitely shouldn't be ashamed of wearing a bikini. You have a very nice shape. Congrats on all the hard work!

More mass, more mass, more mass. your goal should be sicily's arms. /forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I would just start bulking clean and lifting hard, lifting heavy and compound to add mass. I would also work on trying to figure out if you're ecto/meso/endomorphic (looking ecto to me, second opinion?) and alter your diet and lifting plans accordingly. From a guy point of view, you look very good. From a bbing point of view, you just need to start adding mass.

Then next year in the hall when you bust that most muscular pose, it will convey the message "Back the hell off or I'll pound your face into a locker!" Yeah! YEAH! Sorry.
