I actually had a trainer tell me that i should have surgery to take the excess skin off my belly because of my stretch marks, that they would never tighten up.
Okedoke....i never took his advice and as you can see, i did the right thing.
Now, I do use cocoa butter (palmers) everyday when i get out of the shower. Of course, when you compete, you tan, so i like my skin to be soft and it helps alot. But the tanning and the firming of the skin thru your contest diet will help a lot!
Honestly, i don't think much about it anymore.
I look at it this way ~ I'm a woman, 40yrs old w/ 2grown children. Stretch marks are a part of me and i can't change that.
They are tight when i compete and do not alter the look of my physic.
I dont' know what GrowLean is, but honestly, nothing will completely get rid of them and even surgery will only tighten them up some. But like i said, my diet seemed to do the trick there.
It's all an individual thing, but i would just concentrate on a clean diet and good training and watch it all shrink away. It seems far away now, but give it a try and then if you are not satisfied after getting down to competition condition, then consider some other alternatives.
Sweating it now is too premature.
Good luck, you'll be fine!

Sicily1962,
You really are a big inspiration to me. I have followed your October Competition Prep and am also reading your March 2003 journal. Realising that even you have the same struggles than me, is really comforting. I am a 35 year old single mom with two kids. So I am not going to even think about these stretch marks but concentrate to get ready to compete next year. I am going to apply a lot of the principles in your journals.
