One word... DIET.
You can't spot reduce, in other words, no exercise causes you to burn fat off one particular body part. Fat loss occurs thruout the body. Diet is 90% of losing fat and lifting i.e. building muscle is the other part of the equation. Look around the site, read thru the articles in the "nutrition" section (blue tabs up top) and also check out the Online Journal forum. Look in my journal, as well as Philia's, Sicily's, Brandy's, and mybell's. These are other women with similar goals and you can see how we train and eat to lose fat.
Good luck and welcome to Abc! http://www.plauder-smilies.de/wavey.gif /forum/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm in the same boat. I have very little fat on my upper body but my legs are heavy, muscle and fat. I know now that diet is the part of all this that I really need to work on.
Good luck.

Yeah, I think 90% of women have this same problem. It's all that evil estrogen flowing thru us. And related to that estrogen is the fact that there are more, I think it's fat receptors or something like that in our lower bodies than men have. I've read a few things on it, there's definite scientific reasoning behind why we carry more fat on our lower bodies than men do but I really didn't understand the article too well, it was "over my head". If I run across it again I'm gonna try and read it more carefully and see if I can't grasp what it's saying. Then I'll be able to tell ya exactly why that is. Heck, Jacob probably already knows, that man's one smart cookie!

I've read that men store more fat on their stomachs.

Oh yes and it's not the same type of fat either.
Our fat is actually harder to loose than the tummy fat.
Still everything is possible and as said, diet, weight training, massage, draining etc etc is the key for success.
