I know most of you here are girls so I want to ask you something. When you were like 16 to 18 did you like bodybuilding or working out. Did you like guys who were muscular

When I was that young fitness was to much like work and I could stay pretty slim by just not doing anything but now that I'm older(much)i love to weight lift and nothing looks better than a well toned body.

I was always athletic and involved in sports when in school. I played softball, volleyball and ran track. I didn't discover weight training and it's benefits until much later.....32. I wish I had started much earlier.

I've always liked muscular guys and I've always been into most sports and anything fitness related. But that's just me (one out of many). /forum/images/icons/grin.gif

I too have always liked working out and doing physical things.

As for guys - I do like muscular guys but not overly muscular - competition type. I know I know - but that's me!

I can remember watching Franco and Arnold from a young age....
it also helped that my older brother was a bodybuilder and my ex husband was a power lifter in the Marine Corps and we attended BB shows regularly.

I myself, alway ran track, swam and did gymnastics, so being active was a lifestyle.
I began weight training early on, although i would not be as consisten with it as with my cardio.

Until about 6 years ago when i caught the bug....
The rest..is history!! /forum/images/icons/wink.gif

I am 17 right now and Yu Yevon is the love of my life and I have supported him as best I can since we were even together! I love him and I don't mind at all that he is a bodybuilder. I am increibly proud of him and every effort he makes. :-)

Okay, here's my answer. I definitely wasn't in to body building, didn't know women even lifted weights. When I was 16, women had 'exercise' classes in which we did a bunch of floor exercises such as the infamous 'fire hydrant'.

I loved gymnastics and as a result decided to become a Phys ED major in college.

As far as boys were concerned, my high school was known for its wrestling team so I just figured guys got muscles from wrestling. Sure, I liked guys with muscles but they didn't like me back so I focused on the cute, quiet, not the jock types. They weren't so full of themselves and their eyes didn't zero in on my non-existent chest. They actually took an interest in me as a person. Gosh, I guess that meant I must of liked more emotionally MATURE guys.

PS- Based on what I saw at my 20 yr class reunion, those jerks er, I mean jocks were like Spring flowers- early to bloom and early to seed if you get my drift!

Uh... of course you DO realize that is NOT a photo of vr training don't you? Lol, most people on here have pictures of someone they admire on their posts, either as their avatar (under their screen name) or as their signature (at the bottoms of their posts). Some are the real photos of the actual person but in this case, it is not.

well i am 17 and i guess i would say i "workout" rather than bodybuild but its an everyday thing. i love lifting i'm not real hard core about it yet. i love for guys to be muscular i don't want to out lift him! he has to really be into fitness.

Well, I guess for me fitness was mostly cardio work - like running or jogging or aerobics classes, I had no idea what lifting could do. I wasn't very exposed to female BBs - just guys. But now I know better. In regards to "liking" muscular guys, I would have to say that I REALLY like the way lifting has sculpted and changed my husband's body - he was hot before, but he is even hotter now. And we are both healthier! /forum/images/icons/grin.gif

In my significant 20-year old opinion, I'd say that guys who are too built give me the impression that they don't make time for other activities than working out, such as reading, thinking, etc. On the other hand, some people make too much time for other activities - like myself, who tends to be somewhat bookish. But on the other hand, guys who are toned and look healthy and energized with significant muscle can be attractive. Honestly, too much is a turnoff. About the other part of your question, I tend to workout frequently without lifting because I don't want to gain too much muscle. But I still want to be healthy, so I lift occasionally - ideally about two or three times a week.

I know I'm not a girl but I had to comment on this.

I read all the time, and study the bible and lots of other books about the human anatomy, musclar system, biology, and I love old time books like Robinson Crusoe, Mark Twaiin, etc.

Plus, I'm decently built at 5'10 1/2, 230lbs. right now.

That's why we look for girls that are as hardcore in the gym as we are. Bodybuilding is not just a sport its a lifestyle!

Just my .$02. I don't want you guys to think that big muscles= no brains. /forum/images/icons/grin.gif

Thanks Krypto, you're really kool.

I really do like to read.
I have a whole shelf in my book case devoted to books about World and American history. I really like the Civil War and WW2. Plus the "Old West".
Plus, I have another shelf totally for business and marketing books.
Oh yeah, and a big 3" binder with all the beyond failure editons printed off! /forum/images/icons/wink.gif

I just want to dispel the myth that brawn=no brains. Just like the myth most women believe about, " I dont' want to lift heavy cause I will get all bulky!"

Ok, I gotta admit that I knew that I was gonna get some flack for that stereotypical "brawn=no brains," tone to my response. BUT I have to say that I know that it isn't true. I know guys who are the opposite, (they are also kinda stuck up, but that's beside the point) and who are my friends. So, I just wanted to clear that one up. Old School, it sounds like you're pretty cool.

Yeah, a lot of guys try to act
like bad asses cause they're body builders, but a true body builder laughs at these kind of guys. Plus most of the time these kinds of bbers aren't as big as they think! /forum/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks. To me body building is a sport, and I want to be the best. Its just a passion. Like someone else might be into golf, or softball. I don't plan on making a career out of it, I just like the dedication it takes, and the results of it. God is always first in my life, then family, then body building. Some of the stereotypical bbers have their priorities back wards!

Later.

Well i'm 17 now, nearly 18 and i got into working out when i was 14 years old. At first it was just to lose some weight but the more i trained and saw results the more dedicated i got.

As time went on i started to notice a lot of muscley guys in my gym (most of which are very, very nice, lol) and i started to find out about bodybuilding. So i looked up stuff on the net and started buying magazines - now this was were i discovered 'fitness competitors' and after seeing their physiques i wanted to have one and be like them. So i decided to try fitness competing. Unfortunately because of health and college commitments i don't have time to get serious yet - but my goal is to compete one day.

So when i was 15, i didn't like working out, but now at nearly 18, i'm a fitness fanatic. I love to train and love the adrenaline rush of lifting weights.

As for guys, i like a bit of meat on a guy, but if it's muscle then its a bonus but obviously too much is a turn off........god praise ronnie coleman but he's just too big for my liking!!!
