View Full Version : How do you make your Oatmeal?

I agree. I always, but always, make mine w/ milk. After almost gagging on it the first time i used water, i learned my lesson. There's something about using the milk that makes it taste better. Do u eat plain oatmeal or the flavored stuff?

I used to love plain oatmeal, but that was when I fixed in on a stove top and put lots of sugar in it. I haven't tried any of the flavored oatmeal. I'm sure the nutrional facts will change a lot with the flavors added, but not sure. Do you eat the flavored stuff and is it as good for you as plain oatmeal? I think I'll try it with milk, but I will have to get ready for it just as I do for a workout. I'll have to get ready for war just to get it down (I hope not). I am going to try it in the morning (just a little of it). Do you fix it in the microwave? Thanks for the help.

I haven't ate much oatmeal for a while, but I used to eat it with a lot of sugar. Do you all use milk, water, or what? The crap is nasty with water and microwaved! I tried it the other day and threw it all away. Do you mix eggs with it or what do you do eat the stuff? I can handle nasty food, but the oatmeal I tried to eat the other day was just horrible. Help please!

I asked Jacob about plain (uugh!) versus flavored, and he said as long as you stick to your calories and are getting a source of protein w/ it, you will be ok. I always fix mine in the microwave...just give it a stir or two after u take it out and it's fine. I don't have the stomach for that plain crap. Kudos to you if you were suffering thru it! smilies/happyclap.gif
The nutritional values for the stuff i eat-- Maple & Br. Sugar are:
Cals--160 Protein--4 g
Total fat--2 g Carbs---32 g
(serving size 1 packet) I'm assuming these are for the oatmeal only since it doesn't say anything on the box about how they change if u use milk vice water. These don't differ too much by flavor..they're pretty close no matter wh/ flav u get. Compare the values to plain and see how they differ.

Well, I tried the peanut butter, milk, and sweetener in the oatmeal. I got about half way through it and decided to throw the rest away. I just can't eat it (I probably could have, but I figured I would eat something else that I liked better). Thanks for all of your help, though. I will probably try some of the flavored oatmeal later.

TELL YOU WHAT THE VERY BEST THING TO ADD TO YOUR OATMEAL WITHOUT A DOUBT IS WHEAT GERM
IT ADDS A DECENT AMOUNT OF PROTEIN AND TASTE I BUY THE HONEY FLAVORED KIND. MY 94 YEAR OLD GRANDMOTHER TOUGHT ME THAT ONE!!!!
