If you don't want to make a shake and you don't have time to cook then perhaps you should eat a meal replacement bar. They also see protein cerial, so you could pour yourself a bowl of that. I prefer oatmeal and whey protein or oatmeal and cottage cheese and yogart for breakfast. Or cottage cheese and yogart.

I also plan on working out in the early morning, should I plan on eating before workout or should I wait until afterwards? I don't get hungry until afterwards anyways. I always hear that it is best to workout on an empty stomache in the morning (atleast for a cut anyways). images/icons/confused.gif
Protein cereal, huh? I am gonna check into the bars as well. Thanks for your response! This is really a good site for useful info. and feedback, glad to be aboard. images/icons/wink.gif

I get up approximately 4:45 am to get to the gym by 6:00 am, 5 days a week.
My breakfast consists of
8 oz low fat yogurt
1 banana
1 cup orange juice
1 multivitamin
Plenty of protein and carbohydrates to get my blood pumping before I work out.
Just be sure you eat at least 1 hour before you workout.

Thanks for your suggestion! That might fit the pocket book a little better than the bars! images/icons/wink.gif

When I'm switching my routine around and working-out first thing in the mornings I generally grab a yogurt (white chocolate raspberry is my favorite!) and a cup of coffee and down it on my way to the gym. However, RIGHT afterwards I'm ravenous...so for my actual "breakfast" I'll scramble egg whites with cottage cheese and have a fruit on the side with that.

I have a suggestion... this is actually from a magazine article. Sylvester Stallone says he eats some egg white and pumpernickel bread (because they are light and it digests quickly), waits 1 hour and 15 minutes, and then works out. http://billcox.hypermart.net/images/balboa4.jpg

Usually if I'm working out early in the morning I'll have a protein shake and a cup of dry cereal about an hour before I work out. Then, right before I work out I'll take Gu (basically a nice 100 cal hit of glucose). This seems to be just enough to get me through my workout, but by the end I am ravenous and can't think of anything else but what I'm eating afterwards! Don't try to talk to me when I'm doing cardio at the end of my workout....LOL....
If anyone is interested in "protein cereal" - try KashiLean or KashiLean Crunch. Both are low fat, high in protein, and taste great! You can find them pretty much anywhere...

Don't forget guys and girls that the best post workout shake is a protein shake b/c it digest very fast. There is a 1 hour window after your workout that you need to get nutrients back in. Most food will not digest that fast (especially if you have to cook them after the workout).
1- 1 1/2 hours after your post workout shake, have a good meal.
For pre workout meals, if you are short on time grab something that digests fast liek cottage cheese and yogurt like flats said. If you are not short on time, eat some egg whites, protein source and oatmeal. Just make sure you get some protein in your preworkout (and every other meal!!)
