Is this possible, to lose substantial amounts of fat without interferring with your muscle and strength, or even building muscle and strength at the same time as lose body fat. Many people tell me low carbs high protein and little fat, but that leaves me at about 2000 calories a day and not enough energy to anything. does anyone have any suggestions? I would love to lose some body fat that I have battled my whole life, but my football coach is insistent that he will have a offensive line that everyone benches 300 and squats 400, everytime I try to lose weight my stregth shows it. HELP!!! Brucesheppard@hotmail.com [LIST]null (http://null)

Click on the above "Magazine" then scroll down and click on "12 week fat loss diet" it's a strict process which i've been following for awhile but you should to be able to maintain most of your strength while at the same time trim down a little but you have to be consistant and don't expect immediate results. Follow it out the whole 12 weeks. Thanx J

Definately read 12 weeks to burning fat.
DYork is right allot of people have more problems maintaining muscle. The key is to keep your protein intake high! If you do than you won't lose any muscle and if you are not that advanced you can gain lean mass at the same time. But read the 12 weeks to burning fat article for a better reference.

hoss, athletes are differant [ i hoop] you CAN mainatain strength, and maintain size, but it's hard to gain size without a calorie surpless. you can also increase strength if you push yourself to do so, but i wouldnt advise it if your tryin to lose fat [it seems to be murder on your joints]

I have a solution for your problem. There is a way that I have used to compete that works great. Utilizing this diet I have lost 50 pounds of fat while losing only 7 pounds of weight. Basically, I weighed 235 when I started the diet and when I finished, I was a ripped 228 in competition. I do not take steroids and advise you not to also. This diet is very tough and requires a lot of discipline. But it is fairly simple in its concepts. You limit your carbs to 50 grams the first three days of the diet. while in this state you must check the ketone levels in your urine. This can be accomplished by buying ketostix (available OTC) and checking these levels. By the end of the third day the stick test should read medium, this is where you want to be. If you aren't then you have eaten too many carbs. For the next three days you should eat 150g of carbs (simple and complex) along with the protein in your diet already(1.5g per pound of bodyweight you want to maintain). When you test yourself at the end of the next three days you should be at trace levels of Ketosis. This is the way it is done. You lose the fat while keeping the hard earned muscle. Good Luck!
