If you know me you know I hate to cook but I eat tons, so, I have figured I am going to learn how to use a crock pot. I made chicken breasts in it this weekend. I take at least 2 a day to work so do the math. Yesterday I took 6 breasts (boneless & skinless) that were marinated, put them in the crock pot, no water, and put on low for 6 1/2 hrs. Done. That's it. This is great for people who eat tons of chicken cause you can do a batch a once and not have to babysit the oven. Look for more recipes to come because the crock pot is my new found friend. I am determined to get good at using this thing. I love it. Dump it in, turn it on. smilies/happyclap.gif

So you just set it and forget it! Thats what
I have been doing with all my meat, the problem is I have been setting it in the broiler. Then I will go to my computer, write down a hardcore workout and totally forget about the food, needless to say the food doesn't taste good burnt smilies/images/icons/frown.gif . I need to get a croc
pot!

yeah it's great. you can get recipe books too. I have one that I have been looking at but haven't got to try yet. I'm trying it out on the weekends that way if I mess something up I'm not left with nothing to take to work. I think it's idiot proof....I hope!!

Sandy, this sounds great. Perfect for me as I eat alot of chicken and am a single mother with a VERY busy schedule. I look forward to your recipes! Could you tell me what exactly you marinated the chicken in? Thanks! smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Hi, It's a packet of mesquite seasoning you can get in the grocery store. It's in the aisle with gravies. They have a lot of different ones but I like this one. The only thing about the chicken is it gets really tender. You might want to get a recipe that cooks with soup mix. My roomate made something like that last night but in the oven. This weekend I think I am going to try a roast. I'll let you know how it turns out! That's great too because you have a nice Sunday dinner but you don't have to be inside babysitting an oven...go play!!

I have found that when using the crock pot my favorite things to put in it are this:
Trimmed beef and/or ham
Potatoes cut in half
baby carrots
"special" sauce with spices for broth
sliced onions
when this mixes and is heated together all day long slowly... when it is finally eaten the taste is great!!
on a side note by friend just got back from Security Forces in the Airforce and he said during survival training they eat grubs and crickets as a bucket was passed around. yum yum no wonder he he thought the crock pot meal tasted so good. but anyways the simple beef and vegetables works great being cooked slowly all day with some spicy broth.
