How do you prepare yams and what are some of your favorite ways to cook them? I have never had one before. Info please

Yams are basically just sweet potatoes that have been peeled and canned. I usually just open the can, drain, heat and eat. I'm sure they would be really tasty with some butter or brown sugar but that stuff is bad for you..umm kay

I know yams are a great source of slow carbs, but are they as effective as to have to change my diet around? What I am trying to get at is, how useful are they on a cut?

i personally use the micro and put it in for 4 minutes, turn, then 4 more minutes...it works pretty good for me.
you can also fry them in a pan. chop 'em up and fry away (use conola oil tho)
